Nature Engagement for Seniors Trust (N.E.S.T.) brings the simple joy of birdwatching to long-term care communities — giving residents a reason to look out the window, a reason to talk to each other, and a small piece of the natural world to belong to.

We fund and staff everything through grants and donations, so residents and facilities pay nothing. We provide:

• Feeder maintenance — We clean and refill bird feeders on the grounds twice a month.

• Educational talks — Presentations for residents on birds native to their area.

• Live bird feed streaming (optional) — Closed-circuit streaming of the on-site feeders, or a live feed from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, viewable by residents indoors.

• Resident docent visits (optional) — RNs or CNAs with a birding interest meet monthly with residents to talk about feeder activity and birds in general.
